Great turnout and good food. There is no better way to start the Tour than to start at my home base, Real Living Hacienda Realty. The brokerage is known for it's quality service, and it doesn't stop with real estate. Hacienda is known for having the best "spread" to start any Realtor Tour day, and today was no exception.
The (DJ) burritos, fresh fruit, cookies, and juices were big hits as usual. It's no wonder the turn out for Hacienda Realty hosted events is so good. A very popular starting point for our local touring pros..
Had to cancel the first stop on tour due to a Realtor forgetting about her responsibility to her customer and her Realtor comrades. To say she was a Bone Head is letting her off lightly. How many Wednesdays does she think there are in a week? Duh. Maybe Homer needs a girl friend of equal mental ability.
In spite of the unexpected cancelation of the one property, we still had 4 decent properties to visit. The West Tour is my favorite, and today did not disappoint.
Want to see the homes and features from todays tour? If you do, Ill send you a recap (in .pdf format) to any one who requests it. You must specifically request the emailed doc for me to release it..
Subscribers to the Realtor Tour do not need to request today's mailing as your copy is being prepared for sending and you should receive it soon.
OT: The weather is fantastic. It's hard to believe how this winter has gone. The only thing I could use a bit more of is moisture on the ground. In spite of some damp surfaces from recent rain, the ground below is bone dry. (But that's better than being bone headed - hehheh)
Speak soon. Live well, be safe, and prosper..................

The Markets for 2013 - A Stock Market Review
(Silver City Region MLS Real Estate market stats are coming out soon, and Ill have them up asap when available...)
I may be going out on a limb here today with the following ASSumption..... but
Looking back at the technical charts Ive been keeping since moving to NM many years back, it appears that 2013 will be remembered as a "best" year for the stock markets..
That's right. We haven't seen a better market for some time - almost two decades.
If the markets were not going to open for regular trading today, December 31, 2013:
The DJIA, the "Dow" would be up 26% for the calendar year
S&P 500 would be up 29%
and the NASDAQ soared up 38%...
Can someone hand me a paper towel? I think I might get a nose bleed....
Don't fight the trend. The trend is your friend.- this tried and tested strategy / philosophy is holding true for now, but having seen some interesting IPO's (particularly with some social entries), I am sitting very close to the exit in case a perceived or real emergency of some kind starts a run towards the door.
We are not expecting significant change to the trend during the first Q. If I was a gamblin man "hard seven, yea," I would start to nibble at the precious metals sectors. AG and AU have taken it in the shorts - literally.... I have recently added to the gld iau slv slw portfolios and will take the next available windfall to bolster these (particularly the SLV) positions on any pull back. When my friend gold runs again, Ill get pulled along nicely in its draft..
We open in 5 minutes so heading to the trading desk. Love the IB account tools.....
Case Shiller out today too... Big day for news....

November New Filings for Foreclosures statistics just reported. (TY Realty Trac and CNBC)
Looks like new foreclosed home filings are down significantly (on a national basis).
RT reported today that new foreclosed home filings were down 15% in November, and they are now at the lowest level since December of 2006.
Although this is the biggest monthly decline since November 2006, there is plenty of inventory in many markets.
We remain in a geographically defined (and challenged) Bull AND Bear market.
Locally: Silver City, New Mexico
We have some great opportunities here in Southern New Mexico, and this is a good time to look at investing in your future (and quality of life).
A real professional can help you weed out the blue sky hopes of overpriced listings. Ill be happy to help you find your personal version of Dream Home New Mexico too. We'll use the apples/apples oranges/oranges method of side by side comparisons to root out the range of "true value" in the market.
This started about foreclosed property so.....
The local inventory of foreclosed homes is reasonably small, but in numbers, It has remained reasonably steady with (mostly) investor types grabbing them as they come available. FH's are being added and removed on a mostly steady basis. Who knows how many more will be available? Savvy home owner investors are following the specialty hotsheets to see the new listings as they are available, and get a jump on the competition.
For those not receiving the FHH now, I can service a few new Foreclosed Home Hotsheet free subscriptions if you are actively looking at investments in Grant County and area. Contact me here and request the Foreclosed Home Hotsheet FHH and Ill get you added as I am able.. Requires a valid email address.

Stay warm. The snow is making travel in places around here a bit dicey.
Please be careful.............
It was a great turnout (and seemed more like the good old days when these events were more well attended) for the next to last tour for this calendar year.
The West tour provided the MLS maximum of 8 home stops and offered a wide range of styles, types, and price ranges.
Dream Home New Mexico ended the season with our final 2013 edition of the popular online e-version of "The Realtor Tour."
It will be a long time until we fire up the tour engines, and I will miss having you along on the tour. There is one formal tour remaining on the MLS schedule, but DHNM has necessarily ended online play by play coverage for this season and there will be no more tour emails with pictures, links and comments on the day's outing - until the MLS gets things fired up in 2014.
The hotsheet subscription services for residential and commercial is still active, and is available only by request. There are only a few slots available for the foreclosed property hotsheet, so if you want to get email notification when a new property gets listed in this "hot" category, just request your free subscription and Ill get you hooked up.
Here is the "fun start" (yes a spoof) to the weekly MLS Realtor Tour..... vrrrroom! start your engines......

With cooler weather ahead and with a real need for some new windows at the ranch, I thought this was a good time to research window upgrades. The tax credit may improve the timing of a purchase soon as well. The article demystifies "Energy Ratings" for the non-professional.. Hope you find it useful...
No animals were hurt or mistreated in this "tounge in cheek" video*.
Video of the start of today's New Mexico Realtor Tour.
Looking at the location and considering that the tour leader doesn't seem to be carrying the normal "road supply" of liquid replacement cannisters, it looks to me like it will be a short n quick, EAST tour.
Definitely not adequately supplied for a Mimbres Tour.
Now if you'll excuse me, I must be on my way... glub...glub... (photo removed- see OCT posts)
